"The volunteers from Queen Mary made the day special and relevant for all of the school students who attended. By having a QM volunteer at each table who were ready and enthusiastic to answer questions, the school students got a feel for what their futures might hold in store, and began to see University as a feasible and exciting potential for them.
The volunteers were everything that we would want from a volunteer, people who are enthusiastic, willing to get involved with the games and activities we run and have a way with inspiring and encouraging young people.
Some of the volunteers were planning to leave at lunchtime but were enjoying the day so much that they decided to stay for the full day which was fantastic! The volunteers came from a variety of different courses with some wishing to gain experience in mentoring, others in leadership and others who were looking to go into teaching in the future.”
